June 30, 2013 - The IRS reminded taxpayers that effective July 1, 2013, TD F 90-22.1, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR), must be filed electronically . To register for the service, please go to the U.S. Department of Treasury website.

If you are experiencing difficulty in submitting a timely electronic FBAR and there is reasonable cause for the failure, plus the balance in the account is properly reported, no penalty will be imposed according to the announcement.
